Man Utd make Ruben Amorim sacking decision ahead of Europa League final vs Spurs

Manchester United have reportedly already made their decision regarding Ruben Amorim's future, regardless of the outcome in the Europa League final against Tottenham.

The Red Devils will face Spurs in Bilbao on Wednesday, with the opportunity to secure silverware and a Champions League spot after a disappointing domestic campaign.

Amorim, who took charge in November, has overseen United’s worst league finish in 50 years.

However, his position appears secure for now, regardless of next week’s result. The Portuguese manager has been upfront about the scale of United’s challenges and has acknowledged the immense task ahead in rebuilding the club.

According to The Mirror, even a heavy defeat in Bilbao will not result in Amorim’s dismissal, with club executives viewing his departure as an unnecessary disruption.

United’s hierarchy is willing to give Amorim another season to implement his ideas, though there is some frustration over his public admission that the job may be too big for him.

The club has already mapped out two transfer strategies—one designed for securing a £100 million boost from winning the Europa League, and a more restrained approach if they fail to qualify for Europe next season.

Before making any major summer moves, United will also ensure Amorim remains fully committed to leading the club forward.

The Red Devils suffered their 18th Premier League defeat on Friday, losing 1-0 to Chelsea at Stamford Bridge.

Despite the looming Europa League final, Amorim fielded a strong lineup, choosing to prioritize momentum over concerns about potential injuries to key players.

His bold decision appears to have worked, and he explained his selection reasons to Sky Sports after the defeat.

"We have five days to prepare for the final. My focus is on this game and sometimes the best way to prepare for a final is to play, to compete," he said.

"We have experienced some problems in that area. I want to see my team compete, I need to understand my team to prepare the final in a better way and they need time to prove themselves to be ready for the final.

"We also need to compete in the Premier League."
